  • Responsibilities

    Responsible for providing products and services in the meat/seafood department that meet the requirements of customers, including the usage of proper phone etiquette, answering customer questions, and communicating with management. Ensure that stock levels are maintained at all times in the meat/seafood department, and that all products are fresh and properly displayed, as well as follow appropriate health regulations and safety standards concerning sanitation and food handling. Prepare, pack, label, and merchandise items according to Gristedes policy. Order products by using ordering machine and scanning shelf trays of products that need to be ordered. Assist in and maintain cleanliness of work area (for example, equipment, utensils) and floor. Learn and perform the tasks of the department manager in their absence (Full time Associates only).

    Required Skills

    • High School diploma / G.E.D. equivalent or currently enrolled in high school or GED Program OR 2-3 years related work experience.
    • Must be willing and able to work flexible shifts as required (day, evening, weekend, holiday).
    • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
      • Must be authorized or have the ability to obtain authorization to work in the United States.
    • Must be able to obtain evidence of food safety certification.
    • Must be able to demonstrate ability to correctly add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
