    Mechanic

    Position Summary The Mechanic’s primary role is to maintain and repair a variety of equipment including conveyor belts, some heavy equipment and working with basic power tools. The mechanic will also perform the following but not limited to preventative and corrective maintenance, failure analysis, diagnostics, repairs, inspections, assembling and rebuilding of components or equipment.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Perform technical work such as welding, mechanics, and equipment maintenance.

    Assist Foreman in meeting daily production goals and executing direction of assigned tasks from Shift Operating Plans.

    Plan work and repairs for scheduled or unscheduled downtime events to reduce overall downtime.

    Perform maintenance duties on loader specifically grease fittings, change air filters, and ensure loader is fueled.

    Clear all sand from the hopper at the end of the production run.

    Install conveyor belts in industrial settings.

    Identify imperfections and problem areas on conveyor belts and repair timely.

    Perform routine maintenance on conveyor belts to assure they are clean and free of defects.

    Repair and adjust conveyor systems, using hand tools to install belts in machinery, tighten bolts, adjust tension rolls, straighten parts, align rollers, and replace defective parts.

    Assist the foreman to ensure the continued operation of the plant and equipment.

    Ensure the plant and warehouse area is ready for production and areas are free of debris, and organized by sand type for each designated area.

    Assist in the development and training of all productions and operations teams.

    Attend safety meetings and meetings of priority as required by Safety Manager and Plant Management.

    Execute the direction and priorities set by the Safety Manager and Plant Management.

    Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities

    Ability to demonstrate safe work habits and work well with others in a team environment

    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once.

    Basic problem solving and organizational skills.

    Must be able to accurately measure and work well with hands and use basic power tools.

    Must be mechanically inclined.

    Some knowledge on Heavy Equipment maintenance and repair.

    Able to clear pre-employment physical & drug/alcohol and job-relevant screens.

    Able to read and write in English.

    Physical Requirements

    Ability to lift heavy equipment up to 50 lbs.

    Ability to access the work environment by use of a ladder at heights of 50 ft. or more

    Long periods of standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching or similar activities may be necessary

    Able to perform duties with protective equipment, working near or with heavy tools and moving machinery

    Mobility, including entering confined spaces, enter areas by the use of ladders or other access devices; ability to bend, stoop, twist, stand, squat, crawl and walk.

    Work may be performed in all weather conditions.

    Education and Experience Preferred

    High school diploma or GED

    Heave equipment experience

    Mechanics Training/Certifications

    Welding Training/Certifications

    3 Years Experience Manufacturing/Productions/Industrial Environment or related
