Mechanic
Summary:
This wastewater mechanic position is responsible for keeping our wastewater treatment site's equipment at its peek by ensuring its safe, efficient, and economical operation. To be successful, this position requires a high degree of independent judgment in accomplishing the work and developing continuous improvement programs. If you want a large degree of both leadership and "hands on" execution, then this position is for you.
Wastewater Mechanic Duties to be Performed:
- Maintain vigilance over equipment and make recommendation on repairs, replacement, or modifications to continuously improve the operation and such that effluent quality limits are maintained
- Project management of limited installations of equipment and/or major repairs
- Train site operators on basic to advanced operational requirements
- Advises on the requisition of appropriate tools, materials, equipment, and services
- Assure the staff maintains the mechanical and parts storage areas in a neat or orderly fashion
- Reviews and comments on all plans for construction, repair, or replacement of any components, as requested
- Supports emergency and unscheduled work to assure appropriate follow through
- Assists in the oversight of others contracted for work
- Help develop and implement techniques and methods of process control which increase plant efficiency
- Oversight of company preventive maintenance program
- Complies with plant safety and risk management programs for operators and contractors on site, in accordance with plant policies, procedures, or requirements, and
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Wastewater Mechanic Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to recognize needed repairs, and to make most of them independently (electrical, pumps, sensors, piping, hoses, valves, welding, cutting, etc)
- Ability to operate and maintain equipment used in the wastewater treatment process
- Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the operation, maintenance, inspection, repair, and installation of wastewater treatment plant components
- Knowledge of and ability to apply principles of sound management and budget
- Ability to deal effectively with people at all levels
- Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications and drawings pertaining to plant expansions and improvements, and
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in the English language.
Wastewater Mechanic Required Training and Experience
This position requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the operation and maintenance of a Wastewater Treatment Plant, or similar industrial sites. Other combinations of experience and education, which provide the knowledge and skills required to perform the job, may be considered.
Wastewater Mechanic Preferred Knowledge and Skills
- An understanding of fundamental computer skills
- Previous experience using Microsoft Office for communications and reporting, and
- Experience with preventative maintenance software.
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to climb ladders, regularly lift weights up to 50 pounds, and work in a physically demanding environment
- Must pass a pre-employment background check, and drug test, and
- Must be flexible and willing to work the on-demands of the work, which are subject to overnight, weekends, and/or holidays.

Pay: $55,000.00-$87,498.75 per year
