Job description
The Mechanic Helper will assist and support the Lead Mechanics in performing maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment.
Mechanic Helper duties and responsibilities
Mechanic Helpers collaborate with other repair team members to ensure a vehicle is safely and efficiently operating to the driver’s needs.
Helps lead mechanic perform maintenance and repairs such as tune-ups and oil changes, checks tires and brakes, replaces spark plugs and engages in other similar tasks.
Assists mechanic with electrical systems such as replacing batteries, starters, and lights.
Test drives vehicles to ensure repairs are completed property.
Assists in rotating tires and flushing and replacing fluids
Assists in the repair and replacement of automotive parts including belts and tubes that have worn out.
Learns about methods for diagnosing vehicle and equipment performance issues and work with diagnostic tools and provide reports and data to the lead mechanic to assist with repairs.
Maintains work spaces and promote safety by cleaning work areas and removing hazardous materials such as oil, gasoline, or other fluids
Follows established procedures for safe disposal of motor oil, tires, and other vehicle fluids.
Maintains inventory of replacement parts and equipment.
Inspects tools and equipment to ensure they are in working order and returns tools to proper location.
Updates maintenance and repair logs for vehicles.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Mechanic Helpers use a variety of technical and soft skills to provide the most comprehensive repair solutions they can, including:
Knowledge of vehicle diagnostic and repair.
Excellent mechanical skills.
Ability to follow instructions and work in a team setting and coordinate their activities with other mechanics.
Ability to use power and hand tools.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read service and repair manuals.
Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely fashion.
Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics
A valid driver’s license
Good interpersonal skills
Effective collaboration and communication skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
