    Job Description

    Who You’ll Work With

    The Mechanical Component Engineer will work closely with Design Engineers, Supply Chain Management, and New Product Introduction Engineers to identify new components, drive an alternate sourcing strategy, and successfully launch products and sustain them in production. The MCE is responsible for ensuring components meet quality, reliability, and assurance of supply requirements for use in Arista-designed products. The MCE reports to the Component and Quality Engineering Manager.

    What You’ll Do

    • Provide technical and sourcing support to design engineers. Performs component research by collaborating with designers, manufacturers, and supply chain to find components that meet performance, pricing, availability, and volume production needs..
    • Monitor, identify and resolve lifecycle issues. Can work with manufacturers, supply chain, and design engineers to identify substitutes, and make recommendations for NPI and Sustaining products.
    • Provides Risk Ratings in Agile on Arista components based on single/multi-sourcing, lifecycle, quality issues, and component availability for volume production.
    • Will be versed in reviewing and comparing component datasheets and able to work with others to find the impact of voltage and timing specifications, software differences, and compatibility to leading edge manufacturing processes.
    • Has sufficient insight on international and domestic agency requirements such as RoHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals, Safety, EMI/EMC and can engage with impacted Arista groups when needed.
    • Ability to administer ECO, MCO, and PCN in Agile and monitor its progress from initiation to released state.
    • Collaborate periodically with our component suppliers to gain visibility into their technology roadmaps.
    • Draw using Creo 3D CAD and provide all critical functional dimensions for parts to be sourceable.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering + 10 years’ experience.
    • Relevant experience in sourcing components and mechanical design of computer/network equipment designed to operate in data centers is preferred.
    • Experience with liquid cooling systems is a plus.
    • Experience in ECO, BOM, and Deviation processes.
    • Experience using ProEngineer (PTC Creo) is a plus.
    • Experience with Mechanica (PTC Creo Simulate) a plus.
    • Experience with thermal simulation and air flow testing is a plus.
    • Experience designing sheet metal parts using soft and hard tooling guidelines.
    • Plastic part design for both cosmetic and non-cosmetic uses.
    • Familiarity with PDMLink (PTC Windchill) is a plus.
    • Hands-on experience with tests (shock, vibe, EMC, etc.) is a plus.

    The new hire base pay for this role has a pay range of $120,000 to $180,000.

    Arista offers different pay ranges based on work location, so that we can offer consistent and competitive pay appropriate to the market. The actual base pay offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location.

    The pay range provided reflects base pay only and in addition certain roles may also be eligible for discretionary Arista bonuses and equity. Employees in Sales roles are eligible to participate in Arista’s Sales Incentive Plan, which pays commissions calculated as a percentage of eligible sales. US-based employees are also entitled to benefits including medical, dental, vision, wellbeing, tax savings and income protection.
