    Job Description

    Within the Power Solutions division based in Farmington Hills MI, Bosch is building-up a next-generation Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) demonstration pick-up truck that addresses both customer demands and regulatory requirements to reduce CO2 emissions. As an engineering intern, you will be supporting the integration of cutting-edge Bosch components into a conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) pick-up truck, transforming it into a hybrid vehicle.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Model and design components of vehicle structural parts for a prototype vehicle build (including chassis frame elements, powertrain mounting brackets etc.)
    • Create parametric 3D models in CAD software from scan data of prototype parts (.STL or .JT files)
    • Analyze packaging and clearance availability at the vehicle level to ensure ease of sub-system assembly.
    • Communicate design changes with vehicle technicians, advanced engineering team and suppliers on a regular basis, and identify roadblocks in a timely manner.
    • Coordinate structural analysis (FEA) to meet target vehicle performance conditions.
    • Create reports with thorough documentation of design changes and share updates with the project teams on a regular basis.

    Mandatory Qualifications:

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
    • Must have professional working experience or previous internships in the automotive industry, working on CAD engineering projects.
    • Knowledge of good manufacturability and design engineering principles.
    • Must be willing to work in a vehicle lab onsite to support vehicle integration activities.
    • Minimum 3.0 GPA.
    • Minimum 18 years of age.
    • Undergraduate senior or master’s level students.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Proficient with NX, Teamcenter and Visualization Professional.
    • Experience working with FEA software packages for structural analysis is a plus.
    • Proactive approach with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
