Mechanical Designer
Maplewood, MN | Contract-to-Hire or Direct Hire | $25.00/hr-$27.00/hr | 100% Onsite
We are looking for a detail-oriented and innovative Mechanical Designer to join our client’s team. This role involves working with advanced CAD software to develop and modify custom prosthetic device designs, ensuring precision, functionality, and quality. The ideal candidate will have strong 3D modeling skills, experience with freeform design, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- 3D Modeling & Design Development: Generate and refine digital models for the production of custom orthotic and prosthetic devices using industry-specific CAD software.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with practitioners, technicians, and production teams to ensure design accuracy and compliance with functional and aesthetic requirements.
- Software-Based Modifications: Utilize specialized CAD programs to adjust designs based on work orders, ensuring proper fit and optimal patient outcomes.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Conduct thorough checks using quality control sheets to verify model accuracy and manufacturing readiness.
- Robotic Milling & Fabrication Preparation: Develop precise digital representations to facilitate robotic milling and trimming operations.
- Print File Organization & Workflow Management: Manage print files, ensuring projects are prioritized and completed within designated timelines.
- Troubleshooting & Optimization: Identify and resolve software performance issues, optimizing CAD workflows and digital sculpting techniques to enhance efficiency.
Requirements
- CAD Expertise: Demonstrated experience in computer-aided design (CAD) and digital modeling, with proficiency in Neo and Cube software preferred.
- 3D Modeling Proficiency: Strong ability to create detailed, accurate, and functional three-dimensional models for manufacturing.
- Freeform Design Experience: Background in freeform sculpting techniques, with the ability to manipulate organic and complex geometries.
- Problem-Solving & Innovation: A proactive approach to identifying challenges, troubleshooting design issues, and enhancing digital workflows.
- Self-Motivated & Team-Oriented: Ability to work independently on technical tasks while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Strong Communication Skills: Capacity to articulate design choices and technical details to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
