Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspecting and measuring parts to ensure they meet design specifications
- Preparing inspection reports that detail results, generating QN's to identify findings
- Perform dimensional and visual inspections of parts and assemblies to drawings and specifications
- Utilize a variety of precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM's etc.
- Understand GD&T requirements and be able to apply them during the inspection process
- Document inspection results in accordance with customer requirements (AS9102)
- Train other inspectors on proper inspection techniques
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Technical skills: Mechanical inspectors use technical skills to understand and interpret complex engineering drawings and requirement documents.
- Communication skills: Communication skills are necessary for interacting with other professionals, clients and other individuals. As a mechanical inspector, you may be required to present your inspection results to a client or other individuals. Having strong communication skills can help you convey your message effectively and efficiently.
- Problem-solving skills: Mechanical inspectors use their problem-solving skills to identify and address issues in product's.
- Attention to detail: Having excellent attention to detail can help you notice any potential issues with a product. You can also use attention to detail to ensure you check all aspects of a product to ensure it meets the standards of the customer.
- Must be able to interface with staff, management.
- Math: Must be skilled in complex math
- Language: Fluency in English. Must have good communication skills
- Mechanical: Must be mechanically inclined
- Spatial: Must have the ability to see three-dimensionally from flat drawing. Must be able to read blueprints
- Logic: Must quickly understand the impact of their quality decision on the Company and customer requirements
- Physical demands: Sitting, standing and leaning over, Walking and lifting 50 lbs, Must have 20/25 (corrected) vision and not be colorblind
**Education & Experience **
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferably CQT and CMI
- 5+ years' experience in quality control or mechanical inspection
- Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Excellent attention to detail
- Experience using Net Inspect is a plus
- Working knowledge of Honeywell SPOC requirements Government specifications.
