    As a Mechanical Engineer (E1) at Water Works Engineers, your role is essential to successfully delivering water and wastewater infrastructure projects. By supporting Project Managers and Project Engineers, you will contribute to designing and implementing critical mechanical systems vital for public health and environmental sustainability. Your involvement in ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations will help maintain the integrity and efficiency of our projects.     Your daily impact:

    • Assist in designing and analyzing mechanical systems for water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and related infrastructure.
    • Conduct mechanical calculations, including pump selection, hydraulic modeling, air/gas pipe modeling, and thermal performance analyses.
    • Prepare detailed mechanical plans, specifications, and reports for project documentation.
    • Prepare detailed building mechanical systems, such as HVAC, gas, plumbing, fire suppression, air conveyance, and process air blowers.
    • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate mechanical systems.
    • Review shop drawings and submittals from contractors to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable codes.
    • Review designs for compliance with energy efficiency solutions for building planning and permitting.
    • Assist in permit applications for projects as required.

    What you bring to the table:

    • 1-3 years of experience with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited engineering program.
    • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
    • 1-3 years of experience in engineering or recent graduate from an accredited College/ University.
    • Some basic understanding of mechanical systems design, including pumps, piping, HVAC, compressible air/gas systems, and process equipment, along with a willingness to learn related topics.
    • Readiness to understand relevant codes and standards (e.g., IMC, IBC, IECC, ASHRAE, ASME, SMACNA, AWWA, NFPA).
    • Some knowledge of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and mechanical analysis tools.
    • Basic skills in Microsoft software (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Analytical skills with a focus on problem-solving and innovative design approaches.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information effectively.
    • Ability to work independently for short periods without direct guidance.
    • Commitment to travel to project sites and work outside standard hours when necessary.

    Competitive salary commensurate with experience, ranging from $75,000 to $95,000, with a 10-20% bonus paid annually, based on qualifications.
