    About Us:

HavocAI is an innovative defense technology company making scalable maritime autonomy a reality. We are pioneering an end-to-end solution for planning, tasking and control of uncrewed surface vessels (USVs). As we continue to quickly grow, we are looking for motivated individuals that are inspired to work within an extremely energetic, creative, and innovative team that is passionate about maritime robotics and exploring the open ocean. We work in a highly dynamic environment where collaboration and idea sharing are a way of life. We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer who will participate on all product stages from research and development to design and manufacture, through to installation and final commissioning.

    About the Role:

The ideal person should be well-versed in complex electro-mechanical systems (e.g. robotics) and possess excellent problem-solving abilities as well as a creative approach to successfully completing your tasks. You will leverage your excellent communication skills and broad prior experience to derive product requirements (which will not be fully documented) and deliver excellent designs on an accelerated timeline. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and testing of innovative hardware products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including electrical, software, and manufacturing engineers to ensure the successful creation of reliable and high-performance USVs. This position offers an excellent opportunity for growth and advancement in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design & Development: Create detailed mechanical designs for new hardware products, systems, and components using SolidWorks
    • Prototyping: Develop physical prototypes to validate design concepts. Collaborate with the team to iterate designs based on test results.
    • Analysis & Simulation: Conduct mechanical analysis (e.g., thermal, stress, vibration) to ensure product durability and performance under various conditions. Use FEA (Finite Element Analysis) tools to optimize designs.
    • Collaboration: Work closely with electrical engineers, software engineers, and product managers to ensure cross-functional integration and alignment of design goals.
    • Testing & Validation: Develop test plans and conduct tests to validate mechanical designs against performance requirements. Troubleshoot and resolve design issues as needed.
    • Manufacturing Support: Collaborate with the hardware team to ensure designs are cost-effective and manufacturable. Assist in the selection of materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes for cost reduction and survivability in harsh environments.
    • Documentation: Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation for designs, prototypes, test results, and change management.

    Qualifications:

    • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in hardware development or product design.
    • Proficiency in SolidWorks
    • Experience with change management/product lifecycle management (PLM) system
    • Experience with mechanical analysis tools (e.g., FEA, thermal, and stress analysis).
    • Hands-on experience with prototyping and manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal).
    • Strong understanding of materials science and mechanical properties.
    • Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and cost optimization.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
    • Ability to travel up to 25% to customers, demonstrations and test sites.
