    Job Summary:

    Work in a highly creative team environment, developing one-of-a-kind, industry-leading, puppet/animatronic characters for the themed entertainment industry.

    Mechanical Engineer II supports mechanical designs on multiple characters from concept to commissioning. Assignments range from updating legacy work to creating new designs from client specifications. Designs are developed in deep partnership with internal creative and manufacturing teams, as well as other engineering groups. Engineering responsibilities range from static and dynamic structure analysis to electromechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic actuators). Sr Mechanical engineers are also responsible for establishing the mathematical underpinnings of a design as well as a variety of supporting documentation.

    Essential Duties/Functions:

    · Creates 3-D parametric solid part models, assemblies, and fabrication drawings of complex electromechanical robotic systems.

    · Presents mechanical design presentations and reviews to team and clients

    · Reads and understands customer and Animax Designs functional specifications for the project.

    · Creates and manages Bill of Materials and all other associated documentation.

    · Perform FEA and RBD (Rigid Body Dynamics) to client and internal standards.

    · Works with outside vendors to ensure appropriate component selection.

    · Perform FMEA.

    · Travels as needed to install and commission animated figure at client site.

    · Perform other duties as assigned

    Required Education and Experience:

    · Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

    · 5 - 10 years of relevant work experience.

    · Experience in the Themed Entertainment industry preferred but not required.

    Required Skills and Abilities:

    · Advanced experience in 3-D Cad software, preferably Solidworks

    · High level of attention to detail and process.

    · Experience with document control systems (PDM)

    · Knowledge of modern manufacturing practices.

    · Thorough understanding of GD&T.

    · Strong math skills and ability to model atypical problems.

    · Effective written and verbal communication.

    · Ability to work with others in a cross-disciplinary and collaborative team environment.

    · Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites.

    · Ability to manage project tasks effectively to meet schedule milestones.

    · Work environment is a warehouse/shop and involves some exposure to associated hazards or physical risks, which require following safety precautions.

    · Work involves exposure to unusual elements, such as fumes, odors, and/or loud noises.
