Essential Job Functions

The Mechanical Engineer 1 will perform the following:

· Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to develop new products.

· Conduct system component and system level design tasks, trade studies and analysis.

· Design components and systems for harsh environments including vacuum, shock, and extreme temperatures.

· Design electronics packaging for both rigid and flexible circuits.

· Design optical system packaging.

· Design and build fixtures for the testing and/or demonstration of a product.

· Create and review mechanical drawings while following GD&T practices and principles.

· Generate and perform verification and validation testing.

· Create work instructions for the building of systems and test beds.

· Support and create DFMEAs.

· Support the assembly of systems and test beds.

· Support sustaining engineering on existing products.

· Transition products from development to production.

Minimum Qualifications

· Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

· 0-2 Years of experience

· Basic understanding of GD&T Practices and Principals

· Proficiency with SolidWorks or other equivalent 3D modeling software

· Basic understanding of a structured Product Development Process

· Firm understanding of the Engineering Design Process.

· Strong communication skills with the ability to use Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Preferred Additional Skills

· Understanding of Desing of Experiments (DOE)

· Understanding of Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA)

· Ability to use Microsoft Project

· Experience with SolidWorks PDM

· Experience with using MATLAB and Mathcad.
