    Job Description

    PA Consulting empowers people through design, engineering, and science. As a consultancy, PA works across an array of industries and disciplines to turn inventive ideas into innovative products that meet the challenging goals of our clients. We work in everything from surgical robotics to tiny audio devices to industrial construction tools.

    We seek intern candidates who are dedicated to applying practical engineering skills and who look at this as an opportunity to learn and develop themselves while effectively working on-real world challenges.

    PA engineering interns gain exposure to product development as members of active project teams. As activities are heavily project-determined, an intern could find themselves involved in different phases of the development cycle.

    Typical intern activities may include:

    • early phase conceptualization and brainstorming

    • collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams

    • design and fabrication of prototype mechanical models/systems

    • use of SolidWorks or other CAD programs for mechanical design development

    • use of basic shop tools and equipment

    • troubleshooting of models/systems

    • testing/optimization of systems for subsequent commercialization

    • interfacing directly with vendors and potentially clients

    • developing code to interface with electromechanical systems or analyze datasets

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Currently pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Engineering disciplines (Mechanical preferred)
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0
    • Understanding of engineering fundamentals.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Test prototypes and write reports to document results
    • Basic knowledge of CAD (NX, Pro-E, AutoCAD or other packages)
    • Develop basic detail and assembly drawings for products and equipment
    • Proficient with hands on skills (cutting, forming, fabricating, brazing, welding)
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Ability to perform mechanical design calculations
    • Ability to perform basic design modifications
