    Job Description

    The Bekum Apprenticeship program integrates on-the-job specialized training and development, together with offsite job-related college level courses, paid by Bekum. Program graduates must complete related technical instruction through Lansing Community College (fully paid by Bekum), and are required to work 8,000 hours at Bekum in our structured program. Upon successful completion of the estimated 4-year program, graduates will be issued a Journeymen's certificate by the US Department of Labor. We strongly recommend you take advantage of our tuition assistance program and obtain your Associate's Degree (just a few credits more).

    As a Mechatronics Apprentice at Bekum, you will be expected to:

    1. Rigorously adhere to all safety protocols and regulations in the workplace.
    2. Diligently attend and actively participate in all required on-the-job training sessions and offsite college-level courses.
    3. Demonstrate a strong commitment to learning and applying mechatronics principles, including mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering concepts.
    4. Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex automated manufacturing systems under close supervision.
    5. Meticulously document all work performed, including maintenance logs, repair reports, and system upgrades.
    6. Collaborate effectively with experienced technicians and engineers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
    7. Consistently meet or exceed performance standards set by the apprenticeship program and Bekum management.
    8. Maintain a professional demeanor and uphold the company's values and standards at all times.
    9. Actively seek opportunities for skill development and knowledge acquisition beyond the required curriculum.

    The successful completion of this apprenticeship program requires unwavering dedication, a strong work ethic, and the ability to adapt to the evolving demands of the mechatronics field.

    1. Academic Status: The ideal candidate will be a high school senior, with an anticipated graduation date of 2025.
    2. Physical and Mental Capacity: Candidates must demonstrate the requisite physical and mental capabilities to perform the demanding work associated with the selected "skilled trade." This is a critical aspect of the role and will be thoroughly assessed.
    3. Transportation: Possession of a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation is required. The ability to commute consistently and punctually is essential for this position.
