    Location: Ross Clinic, Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas

    Background/Experience:

    High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency. Knowledge of medical terminology desired.

    Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

    Must pass Sanctions Checks for TRICARE and Office of Inspector General (checks submitted by company/clerk).

    Minimum of 6 months of customer service experience and medical administration in an office setting.

    Proficiency as a fully qualified typist with a minimum typing speed of 50 WPM.

    Familiarity with general medical ethics, telephone etiquette, and excellent communication and customer service skills.

    Possesses general office administrative and clerical skills to perform receptionist duties and answer telephones effectively.

    Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

    Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

    This role may involve walking, standing, sitting, or bending as needed.

    The clerk must be capable of carrying 25-50 pounds and reaching high shelving units with the assistance of step ladders, when necessary, for retrieving and filing records.

    Business casual attire is preferred while working in the Military Treatment Facility.

    Position Description: The Medical Administration Clerk (5.1.14) is responsible for various administrative tasks in a healthcare setting at Ross Clinic, Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas. The key responsibilities include:

    Greets patients/visitors at the front desk, information center, or office setting.

    Answers the main office phone line and directs telephone calls to the appropriate section for assistance. Takes messages when required.

    Arranges and schedules medical appointments and determines patient eligibility for services. Provides general instructions to patients or makes referrals to other sections.

    Obtains updates and files medical records as needed.

    Organizes and researches patient records, extracts necessary information, and reviews records for completeness, accuracy, and consistency within established guidelines.

    Ensures the arrival of medical records prior to appointments.

    Initiates and locates patient medical records as needed.

    Obtains documentation as requested by healthcare providers (test results or documentation not yet filed in records).

    Performs other administrative and clerical duties in support of medical care and operational support.

    Creates appointment schedules and templates in the patient appointment computer system.

    Conducts an end-of-day process at the close of business and resolves any delinquent or pending appointments in the computer system.

    Regularly communicates with providers and clinical staff.

    Manages provider schedules in MHS Genesis.
