Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, bilingual Medical Assistant (MA) to join our dynamic team in an office-based role. As an MA, you will manage primarily administrative and clerical tasks to support Nurse Practitioners (NPs) who visit patients in their homes. You will play a critical role in ensuring smooth communication, managing schedules, and maintaining patient records.
This role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and handle workload in a fast-paced environment, and exceptional phone etiquette. Spanish fluency is required to effectively assist our diverse patient population.
Responsibilities
Schedule and confirm patient appointments while optimizing provider routes
Verify insurance through online tools or by contacting providers as needed
Label, file, and attach faxes to patient charts; handle outgoing faxes
Contact patients to collect copays, coinsurance, or deductibles when required
Organize and manage medical records to ensure accurate documentation
Assist providers with administrative tasks, including patient communication and routing updates
Communicate effectively with providers, recognizing emergencies and escalating appropriately
Professionally answer and manage a multi-line phone system, including transferring calls and taking detailed messages
Provide basic patient education as instructed by providers
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Medical Assistant (MA) degree required
Fluent Spanish speaker required
Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing and managing workload efficiently
Strong problem-solving skills and a professional demeanor
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including professional phone etiquette
Additional Information
Work Location: Office-based; no patient visits to the office.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
MAs will handle administrative and clerical tasks, communicate with providers, and recognize emergencies. No procedures or vitals are required.
