    USPI Medical Park Tower Surgery Center __ is seeking a motivated Medical Assistant/Business Office to join our team. We have 5 OR rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in General, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic, Urology. We are looking for a candidate to be available Monday-Friday, schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day. The candidate needs to be available for some early mornings and later evenings.

    Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some later evenings required.

    Job Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit.
    • Turn over Operating Room
    • Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.
    • Coordinates clinical duties as assigned by RN.
    • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.
    • Counsels patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions about surgery.
    • Schedules surgeries by making arrangements with the surgical center; verifying times with patients; preparing charts, pre-admission and consent forms.
    • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
    • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
    • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
    • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
    • Adheres to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
    • Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

    Required Skills

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Medical Assistant or Certified Nurse Assistant or Patient Care Technician equivalent clinical training
    • Minimum 1 year experience in Medical Office
    • BLS certification required
    • Surgery Scheduling and insurance verification experience preferred
