ENT Medical Assistant Job Description

Essential Position Functions
Possess general medical assisting clinical skills (BP, pulse, temp, injections, etc.).
Prepare patients for their visit with the doctor (show to the exam room, obtain vitals, history & medication information).
Document all required information in patient charts, utilizing the EMR software.
Prepare all exam rooms for office visits and/or procedures.
Assist doctor with all patient visits and procedures, as required.
Coordinate all patient surgeries (pre-certifications, scheduling, medical clearance from PCP, documentation to facility, etc.).
Verify all surgeries one week prior to all scheduled procedures (verify insurance eligibility, confirm authorization, facility, patient ready, etc.).
Assist in ordering medical supplies.
Stock all exam rooms and surgery suite (ENT only).
Arrange for patient diagnostic studies (CT’s, MRI’s, SNAP tests, etc.).
Follow-up with all post-op patients daily.
Sterilize and clean all instruments and equipment.
Complete patient related forms.
Coordinate patient lab and pathology testing, complete requisitions for pathology samples and arrange pick-up.
Return patient calls and complete refill requests.
Keep physician on schedule to assist with patient flow and efficiency.
Assist Doctor and Practice Administrator as needed.
Position Requirements
CMA certificate required
Bilingual (Spanish) is a must
CPR certification
Current immunizations/TB testing
American Heart Association (AHA) approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire
Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinic setting.
