American Family Care (AFC) is one of the largest primary and urgent care companies in the U.S. providing services seven days a week on a walk-in basis. AFC is the parent company of AFC Franchising, LLC (AFCF). This position works directly with a franchised business location. The specific job duties and benefits can vary between franchises.
Job Summary
To assist in accurately checking patients in and out by verifying insurance, collecting payments, and answering phone calls. You will also be performing as a Medical Assistant/EMT. This is a float position where you will be working to help assist in the clinic wherever is needed. That could be helping with the reception part of the visit, and/or patient care as a MA.
Daily Responsibilities as a Medical Assistant, EMT/Reception Float
Prepare the clinic for opening each day by reviewing the facility, and opening all systems applications
Greet patients, provide patients with initial paperwork and obtain copies of insurance and identification cards
Register patients, update patient records, verify insurance accurately and timely
Complete closing procedures, such as locking doors, and loggin out of system applications
Complete cash control procedures and secure financial assets
Maintain complete and accurate documentation
Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
Respond to all lab messages and call back requests
Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
Maintain complete and accurate documentation
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Hours: We are currently hiring for 2 different shifts. The first shift is: Every Monday and Tuesday 7:45am-8pm. Every Wednesday 7:45am-2pm and every other Saturday and Sunday 7:50am-5pm. The second shift is: Every Wedneday 1:50pm-8pm. Every Thursday and Friday 7:45am-8pm and every other Saturday and Sunday 7:50am-5pm.
Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalent. Basic computer knowledge. MA/EMT Certification. Accuracy and detail orientation. Positive customer service skills. Well-groomed appearance. Clear and articulate phone mannerisms.
