  • Responsibilities

    Advantia Health's Maternal Fetal Medicine Department is seeking an experienced Women's Health Medical Assistant to join the team. Our office is based in Washington D.C. LIV location.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Exhibits knowledge of lab procedures to include compliant use of ABNs and phlebotomy skills (if applicable)

    • Sends specimens to correct lab

    • Accurately performs lab linkage, obtains pre authorizations, scheduling tests and specialist visits within network limitations

    • Follows insurance carrier guidelines and Medicare regulations

    • Maintains a working knowledge of ICD9 and CPT coding and seeks assistance as needed

    • Acts as a liaison between physician and patient, providing patient access to care, including for appointments, referrals and essential information

    • Demonstrates excellent customer service to include providing timely patient response and follow up

    • Manages patient expectations with clear explanations (i.e., informing patients about delays as appropriate) and effectively manages the providers' patient schedules

    • Provides patient education per protocol and provider instruction to include Electronic Health Record and exit interview communication tools

    • Maintains excellent clinical competency to include the initial patient work up (including manual vitals), chaperoning patients, assisting providers with procedures, and ensuring patient rooms are clean and compliant for next visit

    • Ensures that clinical equipment is maintained and clinical supplies are ordered and stocked as necessary

    • Supports productivity goals to maximize use of facility resources to meet patient demand

    • Maximizes physician visits so that productivity targets are met

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma and some college preferred.

    • Medical Assistant Certification preferred

    • Candidate must be able to reliably commute and work in Washington, D.C.

    • Must have experience with EMR and be comfortable with technology.
