Job Summary
We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team! As a Medical Assistant, you will be preparing for each patient visit by preparing charts and pulling notes before their arrival, providing routine support alongside nurses and medical staff, and assisting with keeping track of tests and lab reporting to ensure everything arrives on time and the patient is kept informed on their condition and care. You will also be helping manage the inventory of medical supplies, setting up machines and testing equipment, and cleaning instruments and rooms as needed. The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, an interest in learning more about a working medical environment, and has previous office experience.
Responsibilities
Seeking a full-time (35-40 hrs/week) Medical Assistant to join our Podiatry office in Hackensack, NJ Monday-Friday.
Responsibilities:
Prepares the examination room. Escorts patient into the room. Cleans & disinfects examination room when exam is complete.
Ensures proper preparation for patient visit. Prepares pertinent information needed for patient visit.
Maintains efficient patient flow.
Communicates & provides care consistent with age, cultural, spiritual and developmental needs of the patient.
Answers the telephone in an appropriate manner. Directs calls and/or takes accurate messages.
Schedules appointments accurately and appropriately according to departmental guidelines.
Consistently and accurately stocks examination rooms and lab with all necessary supplies.
Keep consistent order of stock and inventory.
Reconciles encounters daily and accurately, according to policy guidelines.
Effectively communicates problems, concerns or issues to the Supervisor and/or Manager appropriately and promptly.
Employs appropriate and timely use of office time.
Assists doctor in procedures, surgeries and other necessary tasks.
Accurately documents allergies and other pertinent information in patient charts.
Qualifications
High energy individual with great communication skills.
spanish speaking is preferred but not a must.
Must be able to think on their feet.
Must have great critical thinking skills.
High School Graduate /GED recipient or diploma from vocational or technical school. Bachelor's/ Associate Degree preferred.
0 -- 1 years of experience.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to be on time and punctual.
Ability to deal with difficult personalities.
Ability to be a team player.
Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing. (Bilingual is a plus)
Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner.
Basic proficiency in computer use.
Knowledge of medical office and terminology preferred.
Experience with patient care equipment preferred
