Summary/Objective:
As the Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with clinical and administrative duties at our facility. You will be responsible for obtaining patient records and test results, coordinating daily administrative tasks, preparing treatment rooms for examinations, and assisting our practitioners during medical procedures to provide an exceptional patient experience and positive health outcomes.
Responsibilities:
● Greeting and communicating with patients in person or via phone or text messaging.
● Answering phone calls, responding to patient questions, and verifying patient information and reasons for visits.
● Scheduling new and existing patients per practice guidelines,
● Communicate with Insurance Carriers to verify member benefits and complete prior authorizations for procedures and medications.
● Prepare patients for the healthcare visit by accompanying them to the examining room.
● Keeping patient information confidential.
● Triage telephone calls and display the ability to initiate appropriate intervention in a prompt, precise, and professional manner.
● Perform preliminary physical tests; take blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.
● Collect and prepare laboratory specimens including blood, urine, and saliva.
● Perform EKGs and other diagnostic tests.
● Maintain medical supplies inventory and perform preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating.
● Verify patient information by interviewing the patient, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of the visit.
● Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; and keeping patient information confidential.
● Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
● Serve and protect the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements.
● Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
● At least one year of experience working in a Primary Care Office is preferred.
● Phlebotomy experience preferred.
● EKG experience preferred.
● Basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant scope of practice.
● Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
● Familiarity with electronic medical health care record systems.
● Ability to walk, sit and stand for extended periods.
● Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
