Job Summary
We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team! As a Medical Assistant, you will be preparing for each patient visit by preparing charts and pulling notes before their arrival, providing routine support alongside nurses and medical staff, and assisting with keeping track of tests and lab reporting to ensure everything arrives on time and the patient is kept informed on their condition and care. You will also be helping manage the inventory of medical supplies, setting up machines and testing equipment, and cleaning instruments and rooms as needed. The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, an interest in learning more about a working medical environment, and has previous office experience.
Responsibilities
• Efficiently opens and prepares rooms for patients prior to each clinic. • Rooms patients, documents medical history accurately. • Assists physician in the room, anticipating his needs. • Is knowledgeable of techniques and physician preferences. • Obtains patient's signatures as required. • Provides patient education as directed by the physician. • Performs Radiological exam as ordered. • Escorts patients to other departments, surgery scheduling, or check out for appointments or referral. • Assists co-workers as necessary, following practice policies. • Prepares labs/specimens as appropriate, takes to Allergy Clinic for pickup arrangements. • Cleans and turns over room for next patient. • Cleans and sterilizes instruments at end of clinic and as needed. • Performs daily and monthly quality control on CT machine. • Cleans and replaces equipment in rooms when needed. • Answers phone messages and calls in prescriptions for patients. • Performs daily and monthly CT calibration tests. • May be required to perform other jobs related miscellaneous clerical duties.
Education and Experience:
· High school education or GED equivalent.
· Minimum two years of medical assistant experience, preferably in a specialty office or ENT. · Working knowledge of general office duties.
· Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare providers.
· Attention to detail to accurately record patient information and perform tasks.
· Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
· Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
· Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
· Familiarity with X-ray equipment and procedures.
· Good telephone communication skills.
· Demonstrated ability to use a computer with Microsoft Word, Outlook and EMR software.
· Excellent customer service is required.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and thorough knowledge of HIPPA policies and procedures.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, patients, and families.
· Willingness to take responsibility for actions, act positively upon feedback from others.
· Promotes teamwork and professionalism.
Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
Qualifications
BLS Certification or Certified Medical Assistant desired
Excellent customer service skills
Strong attention to detail
