Medical Assistant with CPT 1 - Los Angeles, CA
Compensation: $22 to $24 per hour
** Nexus HR is looking for an experienced, Spanish-bilingual medical assistant with phlebotomy experience and a CPT1 license.**
About the Job
Provides clinical and administrative assistance for their assigned clinic for evening shifts. This position includes several tasks that help the clinic perform effectively, including admitting patients, scheduling appointments, and working closely with the providers. This position reports to our Clinic Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work directly with the provider(s) to provide quality care to patients.
Performs diagnostic tests, administers medications, collects/prepares specimens within the scope of practice as directed by a clinician, and practices infection control techniques.
Prepares patients for appropriate exams/procedures as directed by the assigned provider by escorting patients to exam rooms, measuring vital signs, and properly documenting information obtained through patient records via the EMR system.
Assisted providers in exam rooms and gave instructions to patients as instructed by providers.
Answers telephone inquiries and triage messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and physician assistants.
Ensures that exam rooms are clean, stocked, and appropriately set up before rooming each patient. Assisted in maintaining the cleanliness and serviceability of facilities and equipment; performed opening and closing duties.
Ensures all related reports, labs, and information required are available in patients’ medical records before their appointment.
Upkeeps required compliance logs (temperature logs, cash logs, etc.)
Properly cares for medical equipment and performs maintenance responsibilities.
Schedules reschedule and cancel appointments for clinic providers through the EMR system.
Obtains insurance approvals as appropriate; prepares and updates medical charts and associated records; and enters patient data into files.
Obtains and verifies patient billing information as appropriate to the activities of the unit; processes patient accounts and maintains records.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) license is required
Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT1) is required
High School graduate or GED.
At least 1 year of previous medical office and/or clinical lab experience in outpatient care
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred
Excellent communication skills, judgment, and organizational skills.
Professional, yet friendly attitude with patients, physicians, staff, and others.
Must be able to work under pressure and handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
Must be able to work as a TEAM
Ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks as assigned without direct supervision.
Able to work in Los Angeles, CA
Able to work in other nearby locations (Van Nuys, El Monte, Huntington Park) is highly preferred but not required
