Job Title: Medical Coder (Emphasis on Superbills) Location: Mission Viejo, CA Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, 8-hour shift
Job Summary: We is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coder with a strong emphasis on superbills. In this role, you will be responsible for coding diagnoses, procedures, and services on superbills, ensuring accurate and timely documentation for proper reimbursement. The ideal candidate will be proficient in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems and have hands-on experience in processing and reviewing superbills. This position requires accuracy, strong communication skills, and a thorough understanding of medical terminology and healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and process superbills to assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services rendered.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of superbills, preparing them for claim submission and reimbursement.
Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses and services on superbills for correct coding.
Maintain and update patient records, ensuring superbills are properly coded and documented in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Work closely with the billing department to ensure accurate claims are submitted based on coded superbills.
Stay updated on changes in medical coding guidelines, healthcare regulations, and insurance protocols to ensure accurate coding practices.
Maintain organized and confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
Required Qualifications:
Experience:
2+ years of experience as a Medical Coder with a focus on superbill processing.
Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
Strong understanding of medical terminology and anatomy.
Skills:
Expertise in processing and reviewing superbills for accurate coding.
High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in all aspects of coding and documentation.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams.
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software.
Work Schedule:
Full-time, 40 hours per week, with an 8-hour shift.
Schedule flexibility required based on departmental needs.
Pay:
$23.00 - $30.00 per hour
Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
