Medical Billing Manager
Position Type: Full-Time
Job Summary: Our healthcare clients are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Manager to oversee and manage the billing operations for a physical therapy practice in Burlington County. This role requires expertise in medical billing, preferably for physical therapy, with a deep understanding of coding, compliance, insurance regulations, and reimbursement processes. The Billing Manager will be responsible for ensuring efficient billing processes, managing a team, and collaborating closely with clinical and administrative staff to optimize revenue cycle performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Billing & Revenue Cycle Management: Oversee all aspects of billing and revenue cycle management, including claims submission, accounts receivable, payment posting, and account reconciliation.
- Insurance & Claims Management: Handle insurance verifications, authorizations, and claims processing. Address and resolve issues with denied claims or reimbursement delays.
- Coding & Compliance: Ensure accurate coding and billing practices according to physical therapy standards, CPT, and ICD-10 codes. Stay up-to-date on payer guidelines and regulatory changes.
- Team Management: Supervise and support the billing team of three, providing training, mentoring, and guidance as needed. Conduct performance evaluations and set goals for team development.
- Reporting & Analysis: Generate regular reports on billing activity, revenue cycle metrics, collections, and outstanding receivables. Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Process Improvement: Continuously improve billing workflows to enhance efficiency, reduce denials, and optimize revenue. Implement best practices and update policies as needed.
- Compliance & Documentation: Maintain compliance with all regulatory standards, including HIPAA. Ensure thorough documentation of billing processes, policies, and procedures.
- Patient & Provider Communication: Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries, payment options, and financial assistance programs. Work closely with physical therapists and clinical staff to clarify billing-related questions.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical billing, with at least 2 years in a management role, preferably within a physical therapy or rehabilitation setting.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred; certification in medical billing (e.g., CMRS, CPC) is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in billing software, EHR systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with [Specific Software if applicable] is an advantage.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of physical therapy billing codes (CPT, ICD-10), insurance regulations, and the revenue cycle process. (Training available)

- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify issues, implement solutions, and manage the billing process with a proactive and analytical approach.
