Medical Device Technician - Intern (Permanent)

  • Responsibilities

    As a Technician Intern, you will learn how to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment used in the development, testing, and manufacturing of medical devices. This role involves ensuring equipment functions accurately and safely, performing routine maintenance, calibrating equipment, and troubleshooting any technical issues.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Partner with engineering teams to improve equipment and processes in the lab/pilot area improving yield and/or reducing cycle time for processes that could include laser cutting, welding, metal forming, surface treatment, reflow, coating, etc.
    • Identify, design, implement equipment, tooling, and fixture upgrades to improve reliability of processes
    • Perform equipment corrective, preventive, and calibration maintenance
    • Work from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions
    • Develop or revise documents and procedures
    • Organize technical documentations (manuals, work instructions, inventory, etc.)
    • Identify and implement corrective actions for manufacturing related issues.
    • Evaluate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments, or equipment
    • Support Manufacturing Engineering and R&D with the testing of new products
    • Observe and comply with all safety and environmental rules and regulations

    Required Qualifications:

    • Must have finished at least one-year study in an engineering major towards an AA Degree
    • Experience with computers and operating systems
    • Must be able to lift up-to 50 lbs.
    • Must be able to commit to program dates May 19th or May 27th – August 9th or August 15th
    • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Quick learner of new processes and procedures in a manufacturing environment
    • Basic technical writing, data analysis and engineering documentation skills
    • Experience in laser cutting, welding or other laser related processing.
    • Experience with fixture design or 3D printing using SolidWorks or other 3D CAD modeling applications
    • Experience in a regulated environment
    • Experience interacting with highly technical staff in an engineering lab environment
    • Experience interacting with all engineering disciplines and experience levels
    • Good organizational, communication and collaboration skills
