Position Overview:
The Medical Director will provide expertise in medical policy planning and development, planning of services for Wakulla County's Public Safety Department, and ensuring medical control and accountability within Wakulla County's EMS system.

Qualifications:
- Education: Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Certifications: Must be Board Certified
- Licensure: Valid medical license in the state of Florida.
- Experience: Proven experience in emergency medicine, EMS systems, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of medical equipment, trauma transport protocols, and quality improvement programming.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consult in planning services for the Wakulla County Public Safety Department, including review of medical equipment, supplies, and training.
- Provide medical control and ensure medical accountability within the EMS system.
- Review and approve medical policies, procedures, standing orders, and trauma transport protocols.
- Participate in the Wakulla County Fire Rescue Emergency Medical Services Medical Protocol Committee.
- Establish minimum clinical competency measures and training standards for EMS personnel.
- Participate in quality improvement programming for the EMS system.
- Advise Public Safety Director, Assistant Chief, and EMS Division Chief on current issues and trends.
- Complete specified Incident Command System courses.
- Evaluate and approve medical equipment and medications for use in the EMS system.
- Attend meetings as requested by the Public Safety Director or Assistant Chief.
- Consult on training of medical rescue personnel.
- Participate as an instructor in in-service education programs.
