    NEEDED: Medical (Office) Assistant

    LOCATION: 5880 State Hwy 67 South, Florence, Colorado 81226

    SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Your supporting documents will conduct your initial interview for you.

    • Must be a graduate of an accredited Medical Office Assistant/Medical Assistant Program.
    • Have 1-2 years of experience
    • CME (Continuing Medical Education) for the last three years,
    • Ability to perform services as described below:

    JOB DUTIES: Shall be responsible for, but is not limited to:

    • Working collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff to meet the quality standards and the Health Service’s mission at each institution on the Federal Correctional Complex.

    CLINICAL

    • Administers and documents medications according to policy/procedure and physicians or APPs’ orders.
    • Administer, performs and documents non-medication order that is transcribed from the physician order system that includes but not limited to: dressing changes, blood pressure checks, glucose checks, weight check, vitals, and other nursing duties.
    • Assisting mid-level providers, nurses and physicians in clinical activities to include but not limited to schedule their callouts, perform vital signs, perform physician orders, stock their medical supplies and other duties as assigned.
    • Draw blood from patients for analysis or other medical purposes.
    • Collect and process urinalysis specimens and fecal occult.
    • Operates EKG machine and other special medical apparatus/equipment within the Health Services Unit.
    • Assists visiting clinical specialty consultants in management and coordination of patient flow through the chronic care management, optometry and general clinics when scheduled.
    • Assist telemedicine clinics when necessary.
    • Perform vaccinations and PPD skin-test when necessary.
    • Assists Infectious Control Nurse and IOP Nurse on influenza clinic and BOP Benchmark measures as needed.
    • Ensures medical and office supplies are in the examination and treatment rooms.
    • Performs screening vision examinations and assists physicians, nurses and mid-level practitioners with minor surgical cases.
    • Perform quality checks on Point of Care: Urinalysis and glucometer or other equipment that require quality checks.
    • Organize and stock the medical supply room as needed.

    ADMINISTRATIVE

    • Scans various medical and diagnostic reports into BEMR daily.
    • Copies various records necessary for Freedom of Information Act compliance, administrative Tort claim investigation and litigation use.
    • Provides copies of medical records to inmates and outside medical facilities following the policy of P.S Health Information Management.
    • Place callouts for clinical staff as needed.
    • Provide administrative support services to include answering radios and telephones, etc.
    • Process escorted trips authorization trips as needed for emergencies and special outside medical trips as necessary.
    • Assist with uploading onsite/offsite orders into comprehensive medical portal so they can schedule appointments appropriately as needed.
    • Obtain medical/diagnostic reports from comprehensive medical’s portal to upload documents into BEMR.
    • Assist with billing and credit card statement using different computer programs.
