    Job Summary

    This position serves as the first point of care for our patients and clients. A successful Medical Receptionist conveys Best Remedy Urgent Care’s dedication to our patients and provides a warm and welcoming environment for all visitors. The Medical Receptionist is responsible for accurately collecting patient information and provides administrative, patient, and client support in a timely fashion.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Provide excellent customer service to patients and clients

    Greet and check-in patients in a friendly and professional manner

    Maintain awareness of patient needs in waiting room

    Answer phone calls and direct them to the appropriate department or staff member

    Schedule appointments and manage the appointment calendar

    Assist with all patient registration and administrative processes as assigned

    Register patients accurately, timely and efficiently; while maintaining expert level customer service, professionalism, and compassion

    Accurately record patient demographic, health, pharmacy, and insurance information

    Adhere to all established policies and procedures

    Ensure and uphold the confidentially requirements of all patient records and manage all daily tasks and activities consistent with HIPAA, state and federal laws and regulations, and the clinical policies and regulations regarding confidentiality and security

    Uphold and ensure compliance with and attention to corporate policies, procedures, mission, and values

    Verify patient insurance information and collect co-payments

    Perform end of shift cash handling review with supervisor

    Maintain patient records and update necessary information

    Maintain acceptable level of productivity and consistency with all tasks assigned.

    Assist other team members as requested

    Succinctly explain company policies and procedures, including billing and payment information to patients

    Process patient payments and furnishing receipts for copays, supplies, any diagnostic studies; or supplies rendered during visit

    Prepare patient visit record once a patient is ready for triage

    Maintain a clean and sanitary work area

    Print statements as requested by patients

    Participate in daily huddles with patient care team, staff meetings and training as required

    Maintain office equipment as necessary

    Ensure all necessary paperwork is prepared for the next workday

    Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned

    Preferred Skills and Experience

    Ability to provide customer service with positivity and patience.

    (Required) 3+ years of experience in a customer facing or customer service role required with references

    Strong visual, verbal, written and typed communication skills

    Proficiency in using fax, phone systems, and handling multiple phone lines

    Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks simultaneously

    Working knowledge of medical office processes, terminology and procedures is preferred

    Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail

    Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information

    Ability to work with a diverse patient population

    Ability to properly triage and de-escalate high intensity encounters

    Must be proficient with keyboard data entry Working knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security rules

    Proficiency in English speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension

    Working knowledge of Athena EHR strongly preferred

    Education

    Preferred - Highschool Graduate or equivalent

    · Must be able to sit, stand, and walk 8 to 12 hours as needed

    · Ability to lift to 30 pounds

    · Ability to hear phones, pages and patients in a medical environment

    · Visual acuity to accurately interact with computerized devices, screens, and detailed written documents for up to 12 hours a day
