Position: Medical Records Clerk
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
Location: REMOTE (Candidate MUST be in one of these States: NV, ID, AZ, NM, TX, MT, OK, WY, SD, ND, MN, MO, KY, TN)
General Summary: Under immediate supervision, maintains patient files and statistics; responds to requests for medical and billing records; performs clerical duties.
Essential Job Functions:
- Organize and manage patients’ health information data.
- Ensure paperwork is properly scanned.
- Verify accuracy and accessibility of files.
- Ensure all files are secure.
- Analyze electronic data.
- Responds to requests for medical records, processes letters and reports.
- May photocopy records and documents for billing and/or legal services; send and receive information via email/fax.
- Dependability is essential: You must be able to work consistently and on time while following instructions, responding to management direction, and soliciting feedback to improve performance.
- Adheres to HIPAA guidelines and Federal Privacy Law.
- Provides feedback to management regarding possible problems and areas of improvement.
- Responsible for all daily productivity reporting requirements.
- Maintains and exceeds department standards for productivity and quality.
- Ensures compliance with state and federal laws and regulations for Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and other payers.
- Functions effectively within a team and participates and contributes constructively to produce results in a cooperative effort.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as ability to work in a team environment.
- Skilled at managing multiple projects and grasping new concepts.
- Computer skills and experience with Microsoft Applications.
- Accurately complete assignments while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain records and files.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to exert physical effort maintaining and distributing files.
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills.
- Must possess good oral and written communication skills and recognize the importance of teamwork.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with Excel skills.
- Knowledge of modern office equipment.
Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1-year medical office experience preferred.
- Raintree Software System experience preferred.
