Position Summary:
The Surgical Coordinator will play a vital role in ensuring seamless patient care throughout the surgical process. This includes coordinating all aspects of surgical scheduling, patient communication, pre- and post-operative care, and collaboration with the physician and other medical staff.

Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures, including booking operating rooms, obtaining necessary authorizations, and managing pre-operative testing.
- Provide exceptional patient care, including patient education, answering questions, and addressing concerns with empathy and professionalism.
- Proactively follow up with patients to ensure they are prepared for surgery and have a smooth post-operative experience, including scheduling follow-up appointments and addressing any post-surgical concerns.
- Assist the physician in explaining recommended surgical procedures to patients.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Collaborate effectively with the physician, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.
- Problem-solve patient care and scheduling issues with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for patients and their families.
- Assist patients with completing necessary paperwork, including employment forms (e.g., FMLA, disability forms) related to their surgical procedures. This includes explaining the forms, ensuring they are filled out correctly, and submitting them to the appropriate parties.
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably with surgical coordinating experience.
- Proven ability to schedule surgical procedures and manage all related logistics.
- Exceptional patient care and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build rapport with patients and their families.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative.
- Team player mentality with a collaborative approach.
- Tech-savvy and proficient in Windows 10 (or newer), Google Apps, Microsoft Word and Excel. QuickBooks experience is a plus.
- Fluent in Spanish (bilingual) is required.
- Some college preferred.
