A Mental Health Clinical Trainee works under the direction of the Treatment Director and under the clinical supervision of the Mental Health Clinical Supervisor to develop clinical skills and deliver clinical services to our clients-including providing diagnostic assessments and individual and group psychotherapy. Our clinical trainees collaborate closely with clients in our intensive rehabilitation treatment services program, offering them structure, guidance, and access to resources.
- EDUCATION: | Hold a Master’s or Doctoral degree in the behavioral sciences, or related fields (e.g. psychology, social work etc.), and is on a track for an independent licensure in the State of Minnesota (LICSW, LP, LMFT, LPCC) Is currently enrolled in an accredited graduate level program in the behavioral sciences, or related fields
- EXPERIENCE: | Qualified individuals must have a minimum of 1,500 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of clinical services to adults, adolescents and/or children with: Mental illness, substance use disorders, developmental disorders or traumatic brain injuries. Two years of full-time experience working with people with serious and persistent mental illness and/or substance use disorders
SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION
- Facilitate and conduct individual services that address a variety of needs and health concerns for the client.
- Participate in and/or conduct assessments and treatment plans, plan-of-care reviews and discharge plans as needed or directed.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation for clients experiencing mental health symptoms or other emotional and/or behavioral responses while prioritizing client and program safety.
- Participate in coordination of services through the recognition of the multiple needs of the client, with other providers in the community, in an effort to provide necessary resources to the client.
- Provide various skill-building, teaching and/or coaching, as it relates to the individual’s goal and/or treatment plan.
- Provide clinical leadership and training for new employees.
- Assist with completing necessary client intake and admission paperwork and providing program orientation, if applicable.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
