Summary: Life Care, Inc is a Behavioral Health Agency that provides many services, such as behavioral health, employment services, housing, medical services, and other related services, to a diverse population. As an agency deeply rooted in recovery, we have a keen interest in promoting and maintaining a Drug & Alcohol-Free Workplace. Mental Health therapists perform various functions in providing effective treatment to patients with mental health, Intellectual Disability or substance use disorder. Experience with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) preferred. Must meet State guidelines for QMHP.
Minimum Qualification: The Therapist must have a Masters’ degree in the field of Human Services, Counseling, Social Work or Clinical Psychology, and must have active licensure in good standing as one of the following: Psychologist LICSW, LMSW, LISW, LPC, LGPC, LGSW in the District of Columbia, or able to get license endorsed with DC HEPLA within 90 days of hire. If working as a contractor, he/she must be able to show current professional malpractice insurance coverage. Reports to: The Mental Health Therapist reports to the Clinical Director. He/she must be able to work collaboratively with the Psychiatrist/Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Clinical Managers, Community Support Workers, and Admin. Assistants to promote the Mission and Vision of Life Care, Inc.
Salary: $70,000+ with additional signing bonus

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• To provide individual, group, family mental health counseling sessions for Life Care consumers consistent with DBH standards, to individuals diagnosed with mental health, intellectual disability and substance use disorders. • Provide counseling to consumers with myriad of behavioral, emotional and health challenges. • Carry out thorough assessment to find out the main reason for a consumer’s problems to help develop good therapeutic model for their recovery. • Refer consumers to Psychiatrist/APRN or SUD for further assessment as may be needed. • Proffer solutions and recommend ways consumers with low self-esteem, family problems, addictions, and suicidal tendencies can overcome their challenges • Keep accurate data of assigned consumers and analyze the information received so as to determine a treatment method that suits a consumer. • Work in collaboration with consumers’ family members to monitor behavioral changes and treatment response, if needed. • Provide Crisis Intervene and Diversion as may be needed manage Consumers’ crisis situations. • Be able to provide both Face-to-face and Telehealth services to assigned consumers. • Adhere to all state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA. • Participate in Clinical and interdisciplinary meeting. • Attend Trainings, conferences, and seminars to improve skills and knowledge. • Maintain Licensure in good standing all through employment duration. • Able to pass DC & FBI Criminal background checks and maintain same all through time of employment. • Complete all required annual trainings according to Life Care and DBH standards. • Assist with Supervision and Shadowing of other junior therapists and interns so as to ensure they discharge their duties creditably. • Provide case management, advocacy, and resource linkages to consumers. • Be culturally sensitive and willing to work with persons from various socioeconomic, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds. • Participate in the rotation and after-hour on-call services and providing week-end holiday coverage with other members of team/program. • Participate in training and supervision to meet agency requirement. • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and Consumers with diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, political affiliation, cultural backgrounds, lifestyles, and sexual orientations, and treat individuals with respect and dignity. • Ability to work courteously and effectively, communicate with DBH, consumers, medical personnel, corrections personnel, Police, co-workers, and the public. • Provide Intake Diagnostic Assessment Includes: Gains, Locus, Crisis Planning, Clinical Summary and Treatment planning
