    Job Description

    Dunn Merchandisers partner with our Purchasing Team and our Visual Merchandiser to help plan and implement new product layouts and displays in stores. Our Merchandiser’s goal is to maximize customer engagement and sales by improving visual appearance in our stores and increasing the shop-ability of our products. This is largely driven by the Purchasing Team adding and removing products that will be carried in stores. Dunn Merchandisers will also work on developing and building custom displays to aid our sales team’s time with customers and feature our products in easy-to-understand visuals.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Create eye-catching and innovative visual displays and in-store layouts to showcase products effectively.
    • Work to ensure planograms make the most of available retail space without overcrowding.
    • Coordinate with procurement team and retail management to understand product strategies and objectives.
    • Travel to all Dunn locations to implement resets and to maintain/remodel retail spaces.
    • Build full or partial store displays and assemble displays in locations.
    • Load and haul merchandising material and displays to store locations.
    • Maintain organization and cleanliness of all merchandising materials and spaces.
    • Use our ERP system to update the store's stocking locations and activate store ordering for replenishment.
    • Help maintain product prices and signs in our stores so that they are retail ready.
    • Review and suggest improvements for display signs.
    • Ensure compliance with company guidelines, industry standards, and safety regulations in the development and implementation of planograms.
    • Assist in other duties as assigned.
    • Ability to work as a team and independently to accomplish varying projects.

    The Current Available Schedule(s) is:

    Mon - Thurs: 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM

    Mon - Fri: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM or 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

    Qualifications

    Previous Experience

    • Knowledge of building products. preferred
    • Experience with planograms or set design.

    Requirements of Position

    • Must have a valid Driver’s License
    • Must be able to operate a Motor Vehicle
    • Must be able to pass Motor Vehicle Record Background Check

    Technical Skills

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications, especially Excel.
    • Basic finished carpentry skills.
    • Strong visual awareness and attention to detail.
    • Ability to use power tools, ladders, and scissor lifts for display construction and installation.
    • Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to recommend and apply design standards in a variety of store formats.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Physical Demands

    • Mobility: Flexibility and mobility to move around the retail environment, including navigating through crowded areas, stairs, and different sections of retail spaces (stores).
    • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry display materials, fixtures, and merchandise, sometimes weighing up to 50-75 pounds, to set up and create visual displays.
    • Standing for Extended Periods: The role involves standing for extended periods while arranging displays, setting up showcases, and organizing merchandise within the retail space.
    • Manual Dexterity: Precise handling of small items, fixtures, and delicate merchandise is essential for arranging displays with attention to detail.
    • Bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time.
    • Visual Acuity: Strong visual skills to assess and create visually appealing displays, including color coordination, product placement, and overall aesthetics.
    • Communication: Ability to verbally communicate with team members, clients, and vendors in person, via phone, or through electronic communication devices.
    • Adaptability: Flexibility to work in different retail and office environments, handle occasional moderate-loud noise levels, and adapt to changing work demands.
    • Driving /Transportation: This position will often require travel to multiple Dunn locations in the greater Seattle area. Ability to follow and adhere to traffic laws.

    Work Environment

    As a Merchandiser, you'll work within a dynamic and creative retail environment, collaborating closely with store management, sales teams, yard teams, and marketing to enhance the overall visual appeal of the retail space. Key aspects of the work environment include hands-on development of our retail sales tools and helping develop the evolving layout of our retail space to meet growing needs and seasonal flexibility.

    Merchandisers primarily operate within an indoor retail environment and occasionally in a warehouse/outdoor setting, with exposure to diverse customer demographics and products in the building materials category.
