**Position Summary:
**
Assure product quality by testing samples, cleaning and organizing equipment/work area, performing heat treating equipment surveys, reporting results to Metallurgist.
Collects, labels, prepares, test/analyze and report raw material, purchased components, out sourced processed, in-process and finished product properties, performs process surveys; maintains metallurgical database; maintains safe and healthy work environment.

**Essential Functions:
**
by collecting incoming components, outsource processed product, in-process and finished product samples and labeling, sectioning, mounting and polishing samples for metallurgical evaluation.
by metallographic examination, Rockwell and micro hardness measurement, and metallurgical analytical methods for the complete variety of materials and processes applicable to UBLLC products. Must be able to discern abnormal structures when present during sample evaluation.
Program traverses and testing routines on computer controlled micro hardness tester.
Maintains product quality
by informing metallurgist and/or production supervisor and/or quality manager of test results.
by completing logs. Data analysis is required through transferring/modifying collected and measured data utilizing Excel and other software for records and reports.
and test standards inventory, requisitions required items.
by following standards and procedures; wearing required personal protection equipment, complying with legal regulations, maintain lab organization and equipment cleanliness.
Responsible for reporting unsafe working conditions.
Accomplishes laboratory and organization mission
by completing required testing in a timely self directed manner, promptly reporting any abnormal or questionable condition up to and including work stoppage and appropriate containment of non-conforming product.

**Minimum Requirements:
**
Computer experience required. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Capable of mastering Imaging Software and other specialized software used for statistical reports, including process capability and general statistical data analysis.
Awareness of strong acid and caustic concerns and how to handle safely.
Familiar with chemistry analytical methods such as titrimetry, chemistry techniques such as pipetting, mixing and weighing.
Trained in hands-on equipment maintenance.
Creates an integrated care environment that is efficient, safe, and cost effective.
Able to work around liquid and gaseous chemicals, high temperature and electrical equipment, taking the appropriate safety precautions.
