GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job is a key leader in Microbac’s business operations leading the and environmental and food & nutrition businesses within our BALTIMORE, MD laboratory with an intense focus on a culture of positive customer experience (CX). This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with proven management experience to be a part of Microbac’s exciting future.

The incumbent reports to the Director and has direct oversight for the day-to-day operations, customer experience, quality and safety within a lab. He or she will be accountable to know and follow the company policies and standards and lead through example in the lab.  He or she will live the values of the organization while supporting the rapid growth the company.

The incumbent will have a proven background leading initiatives to drive a culture of performance and operational excellence. She/he must possess outstanding leadership qualities, a passion for positive customer experience, sound understanding of the business, focused industry knowledge and budget management experience coupled with strong interpersonal skills.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Management of operations, including production, process evaluation and monitoring, and continued process improvement
• Monitoring standards of performance in QA and QC, and monitoring the validity of the analyses performed and data generated in the laboratory to assure reliable data
• Improve our product and service delivery to our Customers
• Manage laboratory operational costs including equipment, labor and supplies.  This includes P&L activities.
• Monitor and manage facilities and equipment and keep both in sufficient working order
• Management responsibilities including, but not limited to: involved in hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity, and daily operations of multiple levels of staff and multiple functions/departments across matrix organization.
• Other duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree required
• Minimum 5 years of relevant industry and laboratory operations experience
• Proven experience leading a team
• Collaborative work approach aligned with Microbac’s corporate values
• May require travel up to 15% in some areas
