Position Overview:
As the Mill Manager, you will be responsible for managing all mill activities, including production, staff supervision, equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety and quality standards. You’ll work closely with the production team to meet output goals, optimize processes, and ensure the smooth operation of the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership: Oversee and manage the daily operations of the mill to ensure efficient and high-quality production output.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mill operators, technicians, and support staff.
- Production Planning: Develop and implement production schedules, monitor performance, and adjust plans as necessary to meet targets.
- Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate and improve production processes to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, and minimize waste.
- Equipment Management: Ensure that all machinery and equipment are properly maintained and in good working condition.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that all operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations and that all team members adhere to safety protocols.
- Quality Control: Maintain high standards of product quality by overseeing inspection processes and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Budget Management: Monitor and manage budgets related to labor, materials, and equipment to ensure cost-effective operations.
Qualifications:
- Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a mill manager in a sawmill industry
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills with a proven ability to manage and develop teams.
- Technical Expertise: Knowledge of milling equipment, production processes, and preventive maintenance.
- Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to analyze production issues, identify solutions, and implement changes to improve performance.
- Safety & Compliance: Thorough knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
