We are currently seeking a full-time Purchasing Agent that can add value to the organization and mesh with our dynamic, creative, and hardworking team. To be successful, you must be a team player, a quick thinker, and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done to satisfy our customers.
Job Summary:
The Purchasing Agent finds and purchases products for company project managers' projects. Their duties include locating suppliers, researching goods, services, and materials, and processing purchasing orders. Assist in producing reports, tracking milestone completions, gathering project status information, organizing project information, and communicating on all levels within the department, shop, and customers.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Work directly with project managers in purchasing materials and other items necessary for completing customer orders
Review and process purchase orders for standardized, non-stocked, or contracted goods and services using an approved source of supply
Prepare all aspects of the request for quotes, including precise specifications, terms, conditions, supporting spreadsheets, comparisons, recommendations, and justifications
Maintain inventories and monitor usage inconsistencies, price changes, delivers and supplier backorders
Responsible for ensuring all data is accurately entered and updated in Shoppak. Any deviations are communicated
Communicate on purchase order status
Create an order standard for project materials
Meet with departments to determine purchasing needs, resolve problems, and advise on cost-effective alternative sources of supply
Work with the shop to monitor obsolete and surplus materials
Monitor job costs
Other duties may be assigned based on department or company business needs
Education and Experience:
Two (2) year Business Administration degree or equivalent preferred. Two - five (2 - to 5) years of purchasing and supplying experience.
Strong communication skills; oral and in writing with suppliers and manufacturers regarding purchase pricing
Ability to work and communicate effectively with a wide range of co-workers in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner
Comfortable reading and understanding blueprints and drawing and Mathematical skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer software
Demonstrated knowledge of construction, engineering, and architecture principles
Knowledge of terminology related to the procurement, shipment, and delivery of items
Ability to budget, schedule, negotiate, and control costs
A high degree of familiarity with contract and subcontract documents, terms, and conditions
Demonstrate excellence in customer service skills

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
