Appalachian Community Services (ACS) an ncgCARE partner, provides mental health, substance abuse, and intellectual/developmental disability services to individuals and families within the seven western counties of North Carolina. Our mission is to promote the emotional and physical well-being of consumers in a safe and respectful environment.
We are committed to providing a wide array of services to effectively meet the changing needs within the community. These services include counseling and psychiatry, substance use treatment, mobile and residential crisis stabilization, intensive in-home, community support teams, peer support, and group homes.
We are seeking a full-time Qualified Professional-Mobile Crisis Counselor to provide the following services:
The purpose of Mobile Crisis staff is to provide support to ACS in various functions that span across all locations, disabilities, and service locations. These functions include access to care and emergency services.
The Mobile Crisis staff is responsible for providing the full range of functions to meet the access and emergency needs of consumers. The focus of the position is as follows: Provide 24 hours a day, seven days a week Mobile Crisis Management services within a seven-county area for all consumers.
Mobile Crisis staff serves consumers of all ages and disabilities. This requires that the staff be adept at cross disability diagnosis, assessment, referral, and treatment for all ages. Many of these consumers will have severe and persistent mental illnesses and substance abuse disorders. This department will serve complex and high risk cases who present with a high level of need.
Mobile Crisis Management is a direct and periodic service that is available at all times. It is a ”second level” service, in that other services should be billed before Crisis Management, as appropriate and if there is a choice
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in human services with 1 year of experience providing crisis management services in the following settings: assertive outreach, assertive community treatment, emergency department or other service providing 24/7 response in emergent or urgent situations.
