At QuantumPoly Innovations, we’re reshaping the future of packaging through sustainable innovation and advanced manufacturing. Our Kenosha facility is a center of excellence, utilizing cutting-edge injection molding technology to produce high-quality, eco-friendly packaging solutions. Precision-engineered molds are the foundation of our process, enabling us to transform sustainable materials into the products defining our industry. Join our passionate team and help craft the tools that build a better future.
Why We Need You:
You are the master craftsperson turning designs into tangible reality. As our Mold Maker, your expertise is critical in building, maintaining, and repairing the high-precision injection molds that are the heart of our production. Your skill ensures the quality, efficiency, and reliability of our manufacturing process, directly impacting our ability to deliver innovative and sustainable packaging solutions. You bridge the gap between engineering concepts and flawless, high-volume production.
Here’s What You’ll Be Doing:
You’ll be a vital part of our tooling and manufacturing operations, ensuring our injection molds meet demanding specifications and production schedules. Your role involves:
Mold Fabrication: Build new, high-precision injection molds from blueprints and CAD models using CNC and manual machining techniques (milling, turning, grinding, EDM).
**Mold Maintenance & Repair:**Perform routine preventative maintenance, troubleshoot mold issues, and execute complex repairs to minimize downtime and ensure mold longevity.
**Precision Machining & Fitting:**Machine components to tight tolerances; perform intricate handwork, fitting, and polishing for optimal mold function and part quality.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with molds related to flashing, sticking, cooling, venting, and part defects during production trials and operation.
Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, Process Technicians, and Production teams to optimize mold designs, improve manufacturability, and implement corrective actions.
Quality Assurance: Inspect molds and components using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, CMM) to ensure conformance to specifications and quality standards.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of mold builds, repairs, modifications, and maintenance activities.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, suggesting enhancements to mold designs, materials, or fabrication processes to improve efficiency, quality, and tool life.
You Need These Qualifications:
Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Mold Maker or Tool & Die Maker, with a strong focus on plastic injection molds.
Journeyman Toolmaker/Mold Maker certification or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Proficiency in operating manual and CNC toolroom equipment, including mills, lathes, surface grinders, and EDM machines (wire and sinker).
Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Expertise in mold assembly, disassembly, fitting, polishing, and troubleshooting.
Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, etc.).
Understanding of various tool steels, heat treating processes, and mold making materials.
Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
It Would Be Nice If:
You have experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) for viewing models and drawings.
You have experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
You have specific experience with molds for high-volume, precision injection molding (e.g., multi-cavity, hot runner systems).
You are familiar with injection molding processes and plastics properties.
You have experience working with sustainable or bio-based materials in a tooling context.
You are familiar with lean manufacturing principles.
