TITLE: Head of Product Development, Full-time position

LOCATION: Somerville, MA. Hybrid with work in office 2-3 days per week

You'll manage the process of developing new products, and enhancing current products in order to meet customer expectations effectively, including conducting research, developing proposals, and supervising the design process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Creating and enhancing products that fill our niche in the current market and expand our product lines to break into new markets.
• Determining product specifications according to a number of various factors and uses.
• Supporting manufacturing and design activities by developing prototypes for products in development.
• Consulting market research materials and sales data to ensure that products are viable and competitive.
• Deep and continual inquiry with nurses to understand their needs.
• Submit proposals and designs for evaluation by the project team and management before moving to the next stage.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree in fashion design or equivalent 
• 5+ years of experience as a product designer in the fashion industry
• Creating and enhancing clothing or accessories that fill a niche in the market and allow their clients to remain competitive
• Determining the specification for clothes and accessories according to a number of various factors (e.g., fashion trends, budget)
• Supporting manufacturing and design activities by developing prototypes for products in development
• Consulting market research materials and sales data to ensure that products are viable and competitive
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation experience
• Be comfortable using design software
• Exceptional creative, innovative thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Previous experience in analyzing proposals and managing contract compliance within a purchasing required 
• Astute business acumen with the proven experience to act tactically and strategically
• Proven experience identifying strategic sourcing and vendor opportunities, direct outreach to potential vendors, and building business relationships that fuel growth
• Start-up or high-growth company experience
• Strong project management, multitasking, and decision-making skills
• You thrive on achieving ambitious goals and enjoy building business relationships
• You are predisposed to take immediate action toward big goals and daily tasks
• Fluent in the use of modern office software like Google Office and/or MS Office 365

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A Master's degree in fashion design or related field / MBA is a plus
• Entrepreneurial experience working in a small company
