    Job Description

    Join the science guys for science summer camp! We make science fun, cool, and easy for kids ages 5-12! Science Guys summer camps are the perfect mix of fun and education! We call it "edutainment"! We pack each week full of experiments (about 20-30 per week!!), games, relationship building, and FUN! The vibe is very campy, but with tons of learning woven in. This makes the camps great for all kids: those who love science, and those who don't yet know they love science! Our goals for science camp are: 1. FUN! 2. LEARNING 3. SAFETY We keep the kids extremely engaged, jumping from one science experiment to the next! Each day they will come home with 2-4 science projects to show their parents. Our hope is that they've learned enough to tell their families something new! ________________________________ Camp Daily Schedule: (can be dependent upon location, but this is the most common schedule) 9am-4pm Drop-off: 8:45-9am Morning Session: 9am-12pm Lunch and Free time: 12-1pm Afternoon Session: 1-3:45pm Pick-up: 3:45-4pm We will do 1 snack/break time during the morning session and another during the afternoon session. Snacks and lunch are not provided. Our snacks, lunch, and free time will be done outside if weather allows. Some locations have playgrounds and others have fields for free play. We also bring tons of games and puzzles. No screens allowed, even during breaks, and even for adults :) The exception to this is if the Lead Teacher needs to check up on science facts or prepare multimedia content for an experiment while the assistant teacher takes care of the kids. Science Camp is best for kids aged 5-12. Our groups are limited to 25 campers, unless specifically indicated otherwise, in which case we will provide another set of hands (or two!). We tend to have 2 adults and about 20 kids. Dates: Week 1June 5-9 Week 2June 12-16 Week 3June 19-23 Week 4June 26-30 Week 5July 3-7 Week 6July 10-14 Week 7July 17-21 Week 8July 24-28 In addition to the above schedule, we will have 1-2 in-person training sessions. For the assistant teacher position, job responsibilities include: -reading lesson plans ahead of the camp day to have an idea of the schedule/plan for the day -setting up and cleaning up science experiments, as directed by the lead teacher and lesson plans -keeping an eye on all of the kids to be sure they are being respectful, safe, where they need to be, etc -doing bathroom breaks -leading break time activities -keeping an eye on kids during free time, lunch, and breaks -leading a few activities a week is an optional, but fun way to get involved and give the lead teacher a brain break! -this position does not require picking up all of the materials for the week, but lead teachers may ask assistant teachers to grab one or two things if they run out of time. For this position, some of what we are looking for includes: -Big, campy smiles and a happy disposition! Kids and parents want to be greeted by a super friendly face in the morning! -Patience and grace when working with kids with big emotions and differing abilities -Professional behavior, including punctuality, cleanliness, clear communication, attentiveness, consistency, and kind regard for other teachers and kids -Excitement to be with us and working with our kids! Must be able to drive to location in greater nashville area and pass a background check.
