Job Description:
Musical Theater Teacher
The Music and Theater Instructor is responsible for administering creative and fun ways to teach music and theater to children, while utilizing the Building Kidz music Curriculum. He or she works collaboratively with other members of the PA department to plan and develop one recital and one musical production a year.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching music to groups of young children ages infant-5. Classes range from 20-30 minutes.
Ability to promote a feeling of security and trust in children by being warm, supportive, and comforting.
Are enthusiastic and passionate about working with young children.
Ability to commute to multiple locations.
Curriculum development and lesson planning.
Able to effectively collaborate with other performing arts staff to plan two imaginative show productions a year, including but not limited to music, dance, theater, set design, and costume design.
Ability to work well harmoniously in a multicultural team.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Performing Arts Director.
Facilitate musical numbers in 2 shows a year
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to read music and arrange sheet music for rehearsals.
Knowledge of instruments such as: drums, tambourines, choral bells, xylophone, maracas and keyboard.
Minimum 2-3 years formal training in one or all of the following practices: music, dance, and theater.
Minimum 2 years of teaching experience preferable but not required.
Experience in developing and teaching music/theater numbers utilizing different types of instruments and techniques preferred.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma (or equivalent) or ECE credits
CPR/First Aid Certification
Level One AZ Fingerprint Card
TB test in the last 1 year
