Job Summary
Chesterton Academy of The Divine Family, a joyfully Catholic, classical high school in the Chesterton Schools Network, seeks a dedicated and mission-driven High School Music Teacher for the 2025–2026 academic year.
Music plays a central role in the life of our school, forming the minds and souls of students through sacred song, music theory, and performance. The ideal candidate will inspire a love of beauty and discipline in music, guiding students to lift their hearts to God through choral excellence and musical formation.
Responsibilities
Teach four years of music courses, including music theory, appreciation, and choral instruction
Direct the student choir, including preparation for school Masses, concerts, and special liturgies
Prepare students for public performances, including seasonal concerts and special events
Train and direct Schola or smaller ensembles to lead chant and sacred music during liturgical celebrations
Provide instruction in sight-reading, vocal technique, and sacred music repertoire (chant, polyphony, hymns)
Collaborate with school chaplain to support daily Mass and special liturgies
Participate fully in school life including the House system, retreats, and student formation
Attend daily Mass with the student body and foster reverence in liturgical participation
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music, Choral Conducting, Music Education, or related field
Experience conducting choirs and teaching vocal music at the high school level
Knowledge of sacred music, chant, and classical music traditions
Piano/keyboard proficiency preferred
Familiarity with or passion for Catholic classical education
Practicing Roman Catholic willing to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium
Excellent classroom management and interpersonal skills
Ability to integrate faith, music, and formation in every lesson
