COLSA is seeking a senior systems engineer who will be a part of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Consolidated Applications and Platform Services (NCAPS) team. NCAPS is a consolidation of current applications to standardize NASA’s IT systems and applications to include general IT, customer support, information management, mission support systems.
*Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential functions)
- Provides expert-level systems engineering support.
- Applies expert knowledge of concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments.
- Provides analysis related to the design, development, and integration of cloud, hardware, software, man-machine interfaces, and all system level requirements to provide an integrated IT solution.
- Develops integrated system test requirements, strategies, devices, and systems.
- Directs overall system level testing.
- Provides leadership in software engineering design and modification.
- Provides advanced software services on all aspects of equipment.
- Works directly on problems that are complex to analyze, plan, program, and operate.
- Confers with functional area experts and authorities to determine the software application requirements of the program.
- Analyzes problems within the program; makes recommendations based on input from the Government and other personnel.
- Completes assigned engineering projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines.
- May lead a group of engineers, analysts, and/or technicians assigned for the duration of a project or may function as ongoing lead within a group associated with one or more technical areas.
- May supervise a team of software engineers.

Required Skills
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in related technical field
- Minimum of 12 years related experience.
- Expertise in data modeling to support software systems engineering and end-to-end IT solutions
- Recognized technical expert with demonstrated leadership experience on complex engineering projects
- Demonstrated experience in the design and architecture of complex software systems, including requirements analysis, modular design, scalability, and integration with broader IT infrastructures
- Must be willing to undergo a background investigation for a position of NASA Public Trust; US Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in sustaining and improving enterprise and mission-critical IT systems within NASA
