    Job Description

    The NVH Engineer for Electrical Power Steering is providing system measurements, testing and analysis on the test bench and in-vehicle and acting as an interface to the customer and development teams. The role is a practical testing and validation position. Responsibilities include:

    • Provides vehicle-level technical OEM support for current and future electric power steering system projects in regards to NVH
    • Leads and participates in steering system NVH testing activities for current and future OEM electric power steering programs
    • Leads in NVH problem solving activities within customer and development teams
    • Identifies software, hardware, and system level issues in regards to NVH and provides an interface between the development and OEM teams to resolve the issues
    • Completes test bench EPS system NVH measurements and interprets and communicates results to the development and OEM teams
    • Installs measurement and testing equipment in vehicles, completes required vehicle measurements, interprets the results, and provides appropriate feedback to the development and OEM teams
    • Provides feedback on status of testing, and vehicle evaluations through formal and informal reports internally and to the customer
    • Maintains measurement equipment and NVH software packages
    • Assumes responsibility for customer projects and insures progress independently
    • Work with development team to establish and maintain strategic contacts at OEM
    • Must be capable of learning other software packages (Ex: SAP, Test Software, Jira & Doors).
    • Must have the ability to work independently, with little or no guidance
    • Independently creates test plans and as issues arise be able to use structured problem-solving skills
    • Provides guidance and mentorship to other NVH team members
    • 10% domestic travel
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Master's degree in Engineering (with preference in Acoustics, Aerospace, Mechanical, System or Electrical Engineering).
    • 5+ years of experience in automotive vehicle development or related field (such as aerospace and building acoustics).
    • Academic or industry hands on NVH testing and instrumentation experience required.
    • 5+ years of experience with commercial software for noise and vibration analysis (HEAD acoustics software and MATLAB beneficial).
    • Possesses a Valid Driver's License
    • Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook software
    • Structure-Born Noise experience
    • Understand of Rotating Machinery (E.G. electrical motors)
    • Hands-on with testing equipment and Sensors
    • NVH Test Bench Experience
    • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
    • Customer interface experience
    • Strong Communication Skills

    Preferred Requirements:

    • Subjective Evaluation Skills in-Vehicle
    • General Steering System knowledge
