A lovely NYC family seeks a bilingual (MUST be fluent in English and Spanish) weekend nanny to provide warm and attentive care for their 3 children, ages: 3, 12 and 14. This is a full-time, live-out position. The schedule is Thursday to Sunday, approximately 50 hours per week and the daily schedule shifts weekly. The candidate must be available to work into the evenings on weekends, some holidays, with the flexibility to work extended hours and travel as needed. Aside from providing basic childcare duties, the ideal candidate must be extremely knowledgeable regarding play-based learning, a very strong swimmer and encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving skills, while creating an environment that promotes social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth of the children. The family has one dog, occasional pet care is needed. Experience with special needs children preferred.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assist in the daily care, nurturing, and supervision of the family’s three
children with the majority of time spent with the toddler aged child
• Speak exclusively Spanish to the toddler
• Create a playful, caring, safe, supporting, and inspiring atmosphere for
the children
• Design and engage in age-appropriate developmental activities including
teaching life skills and hygiene
• Coordinate activities and accompany the children to and from all
engagements (appointments, classes, activities, etc.)
• Strive to develop nurturing and trusting relationships with the children
• Willingness to learn and adapt to the changing needs of the children and
family and modify approach as directed
• Provide support aligned with the family’s parenting approach
• Prepare lunches, some dinners, and snacks for the children
• Clean and tidy up after the children including laundry duties for the
children
• Run errands as needed including some groceries
• Provide pet care for one dog as needed
• Pack and unpack for children’s travel
• Travel with the family both domestically and internationally
• Additional Nanny responsibilities as needed and requested by the
principals
Requirements
• Fluent in English AND Spanish a MUST; exceptional communication
skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent references required from both current and previous employers
• Minimum 3+ years related experience working in a similar position(s)
with a private family
• CPR and First Aid certified or willing and able to become certified
• Prior experience working with neurodivergent children is a PLUS but not
required
• Willingness to participate in and complete additional childcare
certification provided by principal is REQUIRED
• Physically agile, energetic, and lively; able to keep up with active
children
• Positive, friendly, and professional in both mindset and manner; ensuring the
utmost discretion and confidentiality at all times
• Must be able to adapt to the changing needs of the family and adhere to
guidelines set by parents
• Confident swimmer is required; able to supervise children in water activities
• Comfortable working in a home with one dog and providing light pet care as needed and upon request
• Able to prepare healthy meals and snacks for children – strong cooking skills is a PLUS but not required
• Light housekeeping and laundry for children as needed
• Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team
• Ability to travel with the family as needed (in rotating schedule with other nannies); valid Passport required for international trips
• Authorized to work within the United States
