    POSITION SUMMARY:

    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Data Associate in the Department of Psychiatry. In this role, the successful candidate provides direct data &/or clinical research in support of clinical trials, studies and general research under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI). Works with School of Medicine and Medical Center staff and departments, including Directors, Managers, Clinical Information Systems, Research Nursing and Regulatory Services; may also interface with patients and their families. The Research Data Associate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team within the Department of Psychiatry, NYU Grossman School of Medicine.

    The overarching role for the Research Data Associate is to provide assistance in enrollment, data entry and analyses, and other support duties related to the Justice Community Opioid Innovation Network (JCOIN) Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) research initiative and other relevant Jordan Wellness Collaborative (JWC) research projects. The data associate will assist with study activities in conjunction with the Research Coordinator, and Principal Investigator (PI), in compliance with Good Clinical Practice, HIPAA, IRB, and sponsor requirements.

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Thorough knowledge of research study, study rationale, JCOIN EDI initiative, and procedures associated with the study.
    • Provide material for and/or initiate IRB correspondence.
    • Formats and uses tools to facilitate data collection and consultation meetings (e.g., calendars, schedules, tracking logs, etc.) with JCOIN research hubs.
    • Ensures protocol compliance, that is, standard steps regarding follow-up, and required documentation is consistently followed in the time frame specified.
    • Secures accurate signatures and forwards documents and or forms to the appropriate destination based on prescribed policies and procedures.
    • Compiles data and assists in consolidating and analyzing data for presentation to sponsoring and regulatory agencies. 
    • Reviews data with supervisor and then provides reports to all parties (e.g., data and safety monitoring committee, the principal investigator, sponsoring agency, etc.) on the progress of the study.
    • Ensures project materials entered is correct and consistent with the source document and completed in a timely and organized manner.
    • Maintains copies of all required on-going documentation and forms for the files.
    • Prepares requested data and numbers thoroughly and accurately for statistical analyses and required reporting in on a timely manner.
    • Perform library searches and retrieve reference materials from various sources using Medline and PubMed.
    • May request articles from medical journals.
    • Prepare presentation for lectures and symposium, utilizing PowerPoint for slides.
    • Collaborate with various personnel across JCOIN and EDI leadership team.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of policies and procedures of the host institution where the study is being conducted and the regulatory requirements such as IRB and other approvals if necessary.
    • Tracks study milestones to help evaluate the progress of studies.
    • Acts as internal auditors during quarterly internal audits for other studies.
    • Coordinates, facilitates and communicates with research staff to produce required results
    • Works closely with JCOIN Research Coordinator to assist with project tasks
    • Interfaces with varied persons, such as, School of Medicine and or Medical Center staff (e.g. physicians, nurses, CTO), JCOIN research teams, EDI leadership personnel
    • Initiates and continues regular contact with JCOIN researchers and program managers; encourages visit reminders and compliance to project; ensures contact with research personnel is courteous, effective, professional and cooperative.
    • Utilizes available resources and established procedures in order to rectify problems, communicates all changes, and appropriately escalate issues to supervisor as needed
    • Responds to requests in a timely manner, gives and receives correct information, encourages required dialog and follow through.
    • Follow-ups to ensure that requested materials are delivered according to all appropriate procedures and policies.
    • Assist in the coordination of JCOIN EDI seminars, trainings, and consultation meetings.
    • Provides research and coordination materials upon request.
    • Respond to requests in a timely manner, give/receive correct information, encourage required dialogue/follow-through.
    • Secure accurate signatures and forward documents and/or forms to appropriate destination.
    • Maintain files in an organized and up-to-date manner in order to facilitate their retrieval and maintains copies of all required on-going documentation and forms for the files.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have an Associate's degree plus one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer literate with good interpersonal, writing and verbal communication skills.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree, preferably in science, public health, health education or a related field. Prior experience in a health care settings and/or research level interviews Prior patient education experience Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and must work and communicate effectively with both internal and external project partners. Familiar with the importance of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) as it relates to research focused on health disparities preferred. Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred. Knowledge of substance use/addiction research preferred. Experience in working in an Academic Medical Center is preferred.

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $45,600.00 - $49,091.90 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
