Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Director - HR Ambulatory and Clinical Affairs.
In this role, the successful candidate provides human resources direction and support for assigned areas within the Faculty Group Practice/Clinical Affairs. Understands the business needs and objectives and therefore, functions as a liaison between corporate Human Resources and the FGP/Clinical Affiliates. Understands business needs and develops innovative solutions within established human resource policies to the FGP HR department for the Corporate and Ambulatory departments/practices. Leads new corporate ambulatory initiatives, provides HR support, and partners with corporate HR and the NYUL LI Hospital HR Business Partner.
Job Responsibilities:
• Serves as the human resources liaison for the Clinical Affairs Department. Provides subject matter expertise for human resources matters and works closely with leadership to ensure human resources needs are met.
• Provides day-to-day guidance and support to the leaders on various topics including performance management, talent management, career development, employee relations, and compensation.
• Conducts outreach and monitors employee climate in the corporate and ambulatory practices to identify issues and ensure they are addressed early. Understands the parameters of the business outcomes desires and works collaboratively with clinical affairs leadership and corporate HR to develop innovative and viable solutions.
• Analyzes HR metrics such as employee engagement, performance and attrition metrics, in partnership with the HR Director to identify trends, issues and opportunities.
• Provides coaching to the Regional leaders in managing engagement survey results and developing meaningful and effective action plans to improve engagement results.
• Manages and resolves employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations and recommends disciplinary actions; consults with Employee and Labor Relations to ensure consistency with institutional practices.
• Provides interpretation of HR policies, practices and procedures to leaders, managers and employees.
• Reviews requests for salary adjustments within corporate areas of support and collaborates with Compensation on market reviews.
• Maintains in depth and current knowledge of employment laws and requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Functions as lead on HR projects that affect or are needed within the Faculty Group Practices throughout the entire network; coordinates with the FGP HR team to ensure outcomes/goals are achieved and employee communication is consistent and clear.
• Functions as the lead HR contact in the implementation of new system wide HR programs, policies, and procedures for the FGP/Ambulatory network.
• Oversees the day to day operation of the FGP HR Department in the absence of the HR Director.
• Functions as employee champion and change agent related to matters that require buy in and acceptance.
• Assesses and anticipates HR-related needs; communicating needs proactively with HR and leadership and seeks to develop integrated solutions.
• Formulates partnerships across the HR functions to deliver value added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the FGP.
• Provides day to day guidance to leadership regarding coaching and career development in order to promote the importance of growth and opportunities amongst staff.
• Works closely with leadership and human resources to promote management practices that build and maintain a positive work environment and promote high morale amongst all staff in order to increase employee engagement and retention.
• Translates ambulatory business/staffing strategies and objectives into the appropriate operative actions and initiatives.
• Works closely with Organizational Development and Learning to evaluate and monitor the success of training programs and ensure training objectives are met. Works collaboratively with FGP leadership to develop training and orientation materials for new employees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree and minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in HR; strong knowledge of Compensation and Employee & Labor Relations. Prior supervisory experience required.
Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and must work and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers. Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently
Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to partner and build relationships with executive leadership, managers and all levels of coworkers.
Strong time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.
Ability to project manage and to multi task while paying attention to details is essential.
Proficiency in creation of presentations and use of various Microsoft Office 365 applications including Powerpoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree Human Resources, Business Administration,Healthcare Administration or related field. Certified in Healthcare Human Resources (CHHR). Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and/or Society for Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $106,229.95 – $175,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
